The JFMP workshop takes place the day before the AFA Annual Meeting each January, co-located with the conference so participants can attend both events back-to-back. The full-day program runs from 8:30 AM to 4:45 PM.
The day has three main components. The core of the workshop is three 90-minute small-group research sessions, each bringing a mentor together with their three assigned mentees to discuss research development, publishing strategy, and career navigation. The afternoon includes a 90-minute career/networking panel, in which senior faculty discuss professional relationships, conference networking, and the social dynamics of academic life. The day closes with a wrap-up and Q&A.
Breakfast, lunch, and coffee breaks are provided on-site.
