The JFMP is open to junior finance faculty who have completed a PhD, are at an early career stage, and have not previously attended a JFMP workshop. Each applicant may participate only once. Applicants must be able to provide a link to a working paper or published research at the time of application. Ideal research papers have only junior authors.
Selection
All eligible applications enter a pool for random selection. Selected applicants are matched with a preferred mentor; each mentor works with three mentees. If a preferred mentor reaches capacity, the next randomly drawn applicant is placed with an available mentor. Thus, selection is random conditional on mentor match preferences.
What selected mentees receive
Selected participants are matched with a senior faculty mentor working in their research area. Mentors read participants’ papers before the workshop, so the sessions start with substantive feedback rather than introductions. The day includes three 90-minute small-group research sessions and a 90-minute career/networking panel. Breakfast, lunch, and coffee breaks are provided on-site. After the meeting, participants join an ongoing cohort network among fellow mentees (more information here).
